Rummaniyya

Al-Rummaniyya (roughly translated as the Pomegranate Estate) is a tenth-century aristocratic suburban villa site near the city of Córdoba, in present-day Spain. The Rummaniyya site is the only one in Córdoba for which standing remains have survived. The subject of recent archaeological investigations by the German Archaeological Institute, the site is a rich source of  architectural and landscape remains, including its medieval hydraulic system. It provides a rare testimony to the lives of the Islamic aristocracy during Córdoba’s celebrated caliphal period (928-1031).
